The Stages of Hypnosis

For this project, I conducted visual research into both contemporary and historical fashion photographers, exploring a concept that could tell a compelling, emotional story through imagery. I chose to focus on the stages of hypnosis, aiming to depict the emotions and sensations that arise during the experience. Through black-and-white lines and intentionally blurry images, I sought to visually express the disorienting feelings that occur in the early stages of hypnosis, as well as the dizziness and altered perception that follow.

The black-and-white lines represent a visual fragmentation, evoking the sense of mental detachment and the blurred boundaries between conscious awareness and the subconscious. The blurred images capture the feeling of dissociation, confusion, and the distortion of reality that can accompany hypnosis. Fashion photography, with its deliberate styling and composition, adds an additional layer to the narrative, with clothing and model expressions reflecting themes of control, surrender, and inner transformation.
